Rome Guest house
Why Casa Romana
The name Casa Romana was chosen (without hesitation) by both of us , Fulvia and Pierluigi, an Italian couple, because no matter the reason that brought you to Rome, this guest house will be your Roman house. For more than 15 years we have successfully run the private tourist office and walking tours agency Enjoy Rome and Colors Hotel in the Vatican area. So, we perfectly know what tourists are expecting from Rome and what are the main difficulties they are going to find. Fulvia’s past experience in creating walking tours of Rome will help you to suggest you the best itineraries through the major sights and the most hidden corners of the Eternal city. Fulvia is proud of being a truly native Roman and she hopes that she will transmit you her love for Rome. Pierluigi is ready to answer to all your practical questions and will share with you his new passion: la cucina italiana! He will write down for you some of the most known Italian recipes, including some tricks that only a native Neapolitan would know!
Rooms and rates:
In the restoration of this apartment we thought that modernity and comfort can perfectly live together with tradition. We wanted to respect the original architecture of the building and kept the brick arches on the top of the doors. In the triple room we also discovered a wooden ceiling from early past century that has been meticously restored by a craftsman from Umbria.
In Casa Romana there are three rooms, all provided with private bathroom.
Room I
Queen size bed (slightly smaller than the regular double bed) - Sleeps 1 or 2 people
Room II
Double bed - Sleeps 2 people
Room III
Double bed - Extra bed available - Sleeps 2 or 3 people
The rooms are provided with coffee and tea making facilities, central heating, a/c, refrigerator, radio alarm clock, hair dryer and other bathroom amenities.
Rome guide books and maps are available at the reception.
Your Breakfast:
You will start to experience the Italian culture from your breakfast. You will be woken up by the smell of a strong Italian Espresso that you can have under request. Everyday Fulvia will bring fresh seasonal fruit from the local market. In summer you will find also the tomatoes from the vegetable garden she grows in Umbria.
Our neighborhood:
Casa Romana is located north of Termini station in the Rione Esquilino. For many travelers this is just the arrival and departure point, the hub of Rome public transportation, and therefore the easiest place to stay when in Rome. That’s true, but we also want to show you how rich this area is in terms of history, art and culture. And it’s not finished: if one of the reasons that brought you to Italy is that you looove Italian food, la Stazione Termini will not betray you! You will be surprised in finding out that some of the best gelaterie, pasticcerie or bakeries are so close to Casa Romana!
North of Termini:
Our coffee didn’t wake you up (you were late last night…) and it’s noon and you MUST visit the Colosseum because it’s your last day? Roberto in via Milazzo will serve his home made cornetti and ciambelle with a great cappuccino. Across the street from Roberto there is an always crowded Forno. They have the best pizza Bianca in Rome! You can fill it with prosciutto, vegs, mozzarella and rucola. Just make sure you know that Ubaldo, the owner shuts for siesta from 2 till 5pm. Closed on Thurs afternoons and Sunday.
For lunch and dinner the place to go is Da Bruno in via Varese 31. This family owned trattoria does traditional Roman cuisine. There is no pizza, but you can die for their amatriciana or gnocchi. They are open Mon-Sat 12.30pm, 7-10pm. Closed Aug. If you walk a lit bit further west , towards via XX Settembre, in via Goito corner via Cernaia, you will find Trimani, one of the oldest , most popular and well … wine shop in Rome.
